The Distance Between Action and Ownership
There is a difference between performing an action and authoring it. Behaviour continues. The feeling of having chosen it does not. Reintroducing even small points of genuine choice increases the sense of authorship over the sequence. Ownership returns gradually as more of the sequence is actively selected rather than merely executed.
